Born in Lagny-sur-Marne on the outskirts of Paris, he started to attract attention as a schoolboy with Le Havre, before United eventually won the race for his signature. Paul went on to become a key member of the Under-18s team, and was a driving force in the FA Youth Cup-winning side of 2011.

However, hungry to increase his first-team opportunities, Pogba decided to accept an offer to join Italian giants Juventus at the end of that season.

Signing a four-year deal, the then 19-year-old impressed in his first season in Serie A, helping the Bianconeri win the title. His efforts also won him the Golden Boy award in 2013 for the best under-21 player in Europe, the under-20 World Cup with France and the Golden Ball for the tournament’s star player.

Pogba went on to win the 2014 World Cup’s best young player award, while his success continued domestically. By the end of 2015/16, he had claimed his fourth successive Scudetto triumph and appeared in his first Champions League final.

After his impressive displays at Euro 2016, Paul returned to United for a then world-record fee. The midfielder enjoyed a fine opening season back at Old Trafford, as his imperious energy and supreme confidence on the ball helped his side to win the League Cup and the Europa League.

Pogba began the 2017/18 Premier League season in irrepressible form, contributing to four goals in as many games, but his momentum was curtailed after sustaining a thigh injury against Basel in September.

The Frenchman’s magnum opus for the season came during April’s comeback win over Manchester City, when he struck twice on our way to a 3-2 win after being 2-0 down at the Etihad Stadium.

Renowned for his incredible fitness, sublime passing range and keen eye for goal, Pogba has only improved as time has passed and he reinforced his reputation as one of the world’s standout players in the summer of 2018, as he helped guide France to World Cup glory.

He played a vital role and started every game, bar the dead rubber group match against Denmark. Throughout the tournament, Pogba oozed class and proved to be a crucial cog in Didier Deschamps’ slick, fast-paced team. He even netted in the final against Croatia with a curling effort from the edge of the box on his weaker side.

Just 26 days later, the world champion kicked off the Reds’ 2018/19 campaign, opening the scoring after only three minutes against Leicester City. Pogba continued the form he produced in Russia and went on to enjoy his best season so far at United in goalscoring terms, scoring 16 times and registering 11 assists in all competitions.

Following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment in December, a revitalised Pogba netted nine goals in the Norwegian’s first 12 games in charge and was voted December’s Player of the Month by fans. The only blot on his copybook during that period was his red card against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in February.

Paul demonstrated his penalty-taking and leadership skills throughout the season, netting eight times from the spot and captaining the team from the start in four games. Indeed, his overall contribution was recognised by his fellow professionals, who voted him into the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

After an injury-hit 2019/20, Paul enjoyed another solid campaign in 2020/21, scoring brilliant winners at Burnley and Fulham to help United briefly top the table in January and once again claiming the club’s Player of the Month prize.
