Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has overtaken Peter Schmeichel to record the most clean sheets in the club’s history.
The Spaniard overtook the Great Dane by shutting out Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final, taking his tally to 181, having made 523 appearances since signing from Atletico Madrid in June 2011.
De Gea, who has made the 10th-most appearances for the club, has been an ever-present in Erik ten Hag’s Premier League side and was flawless on the big stage on Sunday. As well as winning his second League Cup, United’s no. 1 has won the Premier League, FA Cup and the Europa League, as well as many other individual achievements.
